Five persons and 6,400 packs of cigarettes were detained in two cases of illegal transportation across the state border of tobacco products in the last 12 hours.
On June 30, based on intelligence information, at the level of the Border Police Sector Ungheni was initiated an action on countering cigarette smuggling in collaboration with the officers of the special investigation of the Western Regional Directorate of the Border Police.

Several persons who wanted to cross the border illegally, using forged passports were discovered last week at the BCPs. Among those documented are individuals who were on wanted list for crime committing and persons with false identity.

A very emotional moment took place today, on June 28, at the Metropolitan Cathedral Square "Birth of God", at the ceremony dedicated to the advancement of the first professional degree of the graduates of the Military Academy of the Armed Forces "Alexandru cel Bun".

Two automatic pistols of Scorpion model VZ61, caliber 7.65 Browning and four chargers were discovered by Border Police officers at the checkpoint Chisinau Airport. The weapons were packed in a package that would reach Germany. 

A Swedish citizen was detained in Chisinau International Airport after the Border Policemen and customs officials discovered in his baggage cigarette packs in amount of 1850.

The Heads of Border Police of Moldova and Romania held today an operative meeting at the checkpoint Sculeni, Iasi County. The two delegations discussed the activities and results achieved in counteracting the cross-border crime and crime trends at the common border.

The employees of the Border Police found and seized, in the framework of actions to prevent and combat the smuggling of goods, 2100 packs of cigarettes with excise stamps of the Republic of Moldova and about 10 liters of alcohol.
