One of the missions of the Border Police is to ensure the security of the Republic of Moldova against illegal migration and cross-border crime, in this sense, the institution managed to undertake in the 6 months of 2014, a number of measures to improve state border control and surveillance.

The European Union Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM) was launched on 1 December 2005 in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Moldova, the European Commission and the Government of Ukraine.

EUBAM’s mission is to support capacity building in the area of border control and to enhance regional security.
