“SOUTH” Regional Directorate is responsible for carrying out Border Police duties and implementing state policies in the field of Integrated Border Management at operational level. “SOUTH” Regional Directorate is a legal entity of public law, funded from the state budget, holding stamps with RM State Emblem, and treasury account.

In accordance with legal provisions, “SOUTH” Regional Directorate carries out the following tasks: prevention, detection and counteracting of illegal migration and other cross-border crime related to illegal movement of persons and vehicles; establishing of contraventions related to illegal stay of aliens and illegal crossing of the state border by persons and vehicles; carrying out special investigations and participating in ensuring international public order at the border, as well as within the border representative activity. While performing border control, Regional Directorates carry out other activities in the limits of competence and in compliance with the legislation.
