Summary of activity of supervision and control of state border crossings

supraveghereOne of the missions of the Border Police is to ensure the security of the Republic of Moldova against illegal migration and cross-border crime, in this sense, the institution managed to undertake in the 6 months of 2014, a number of measures to improve state border control and surveillance.

For a continuous development of border control have been developed and implemented nine regulations and departmental instructions, experts in the field participated in working sessions to strengthen the cooperation relations with the border authorities of the neighboring countries, being developed new forms of action at common borders.

Thus, the Border Police together with the State Border Service of Ukraine carried out training and practical applications, in order to raise the level of responsiveness and improve border joint actions in different situations. Moldovan border policemen and Ukrainian border guards had 223 representative activities such as joint research of the events at the border, joint risk analysis, exchange of statistical data, meetings with the purpose of developing the mechanisms and procedures for border control, as well were conducted 283 joint patrols, of which 8 within the border waters with a help of craft from endowment.

With regard to joint actions with the Border Police of Romania, the representatives of both authorities conducted 85 representative border activities and conducted 148 joint border monitoring.
As a result of assistance projects on equipping the Border Police subdivisions with minimum equipment for monitoring and combating illicit trafficking of radioactive and nuclear substances at the state border, in the reporting period there was developed interaction mechanism in cases of intervention, as well fulfilled methods and procedures vertically and horizontally, by practicing exercises in the field.

At the same time, the Border Police aims to increase canine skills by promoting the development projects of the Canine Center, whose activity was launched earlier this year in Leova. It should be mentioned that due to Border Police it was possible the discovery of seven offenses, as a result of requests come from employees of police inspectorates and the apprehensions for attempted illegal crossing of the state border.

Responsible persons for the activities of supervision and control of the state border crossings shall continue to improve the quality of the border crossings by the persons and vehicles and shall implement tangible measures necessary to raise the responsiveness of the institution to cover risks at the border.
