The entire management team of the Border Police was held today in the framework of a working session to familiarize with the process of European integration and the impact of liberalization of visa regime with the EU on the activity of the Border Police, and namely, the potential risks, but also the actions that are to be undertaken after the elimination of visas for Moldovan citizens who will travel to the Schengen area. However, the meeting agenda included measures to inform the staff of the institution's strategic objectives implemented in sectoral policy documents, institutional priorities set for the next period, as well as the informing with the management of external assistance projects.
In order to address issues related to the European integration process, including the outcome of visa liberalization with the EU on the activity of the Border Police, at the event were invited Daniela Moraru, deputy head of the General Directorate for European Integration of the Ministry of External Affairs and European Integration and the international experts, Daniel Barbu and Adriana Barilov.
The representative of Ministry of External Affairs and European Integration recorded historical event for the Republic of Moldova – the cancellation of visas for short-term travel in the Schengen area for Moldovan citizens holding biometric passports and reiterated that this decision is the result of progress made by the country in implementing the reforms launched in key areas, Moldova in this sense being the first country in the Eastern Partnership which met all the conditionalities set out in the Action Plan on visa liberalization. Also, thanked Border Policemen for the daily work to bring the Republic of Moldova into the European family and stated the need to boost cooperation relationships between the Border Police and the institution they represent to identify operational and practical mechanism for spreading useful information for both Moldovan citizens and for authorities with border attributions of European countries.
The representatives of the various divisions of the Department made the participants familiar with the institution's Strategic Development Programme for the years 2014 - 2016 and presented the Matrix of policies on budgetary support in the visa liberalization for the years 2014-2016, and the actions taken so far by the Border Police, on the the reference segment . Similarly, they have acquired additional details on activities to be implemented from April 28, 2014, in this regard, being prepared a list of answers on free movement in the European community.
The international expert Daniel Barbu presented the draft of the National Strategy for Integrated Border Management of State border for the years 2014-2016 and its basic pillars, that represent the compatibility, interoperability and integration.
Dorin Purice thanked the MFA team for the support enjoyed by the institution in the fulfillment of the conditionalities imposed to the Republic of Moldova and evoked the Border Police 's commitment to continue with the same fervor the completion of all obligations to maintain a safe climate at the state border.
At the end of the working meeting, the head of the Border Police has sent a congratulatory message on the occasion of Easter holidays, recalling some of the measures, which provide an easier traffic flow and reduce waiting time at the state border crossing.
