300 parrots were "detained" by Border Police officers at the border with Ukraine. The case was registered on the evening of 4 March, at around 20.10.

The mobile team of the East Regional Directorate has stopped for checking, at the entrance to the village Palanca, a transport means Toyota Corolla with registration numbers of Cimişlia. In the car were two Moldovan nationals, aged 22 and 40.

As a result of physical control of the vehicle, the Border Police officers found in the car’s trunk 300 parrots, of parakeet species or known as budgie.

The men could not present the necessary supporting documents, according to the statements made by the passenger of the vehicle, the birds were purchased in the city of Nikolaev, Ukraine.

Until the elucidation of all the circumstances, the 300 parakeets were given, via storage acts without the right of alienation, to the persons who would be guilty of unlawful transportation of birds across the border.
