Moldovan-Belgian consultations on illegal migration

3The Head of the Border Police, Dorin Purice had today, May 27, 2014, a meeting with the Director of the Office for Foreigners of Kingdom of Belgium, Freddy Roosemont. The Belgian official is for the second time in Chisinau, at the invitation of the Bureau of Migration and Asylum of the MIA.

On the occasion of this meeting, the parties discussed the current state of the collaborative relationships between institutions, addressing, inclusively some of the actions to prevent the illegal migration in the Republic of Moldova and scored the proposals to combat this phenomenon, as well as other topics of common interest.

The Head of the Border Police has expressed interest in enhancing cooperation, taking into account the Belgian extensive experience in this field with respect to the effective cooperation of the Office with the Balkan states.

Similarly, in the discussion, Mr. Dorin Purice presented the actions undertaken by the border institution in reforming process, in the tangent with the fulfillment of the agenda commitments of the European integration of the Republic of Moldova. In particular, he specified the effort to improve the key areas such as: combating illegal migration, corruption, organized crime and the optimization of the border control procedures and of the documents’ security.

In his turn, Mr. Freddy Roosemont reiterated willingness to collaborate on common business segment and has secured a total openness to any proposal aimed at topics in the area of migration. In this context, both sides reached a consensus regarding the launch of consultancy and collaboration, to pick up the best practices.
