The Border Guard officers, during 2013, identified in border crossing points 1744 foreign nationals, who did not respect the legislation of the Republic of Moldova.They exceeded the term of stay, envisaged by the Article 333 of the Contravention Code of RM (violation of rules of stay in the Republic of Moldova). Among the persons who ignored often the obligations and responsibilities, that shall be honored by foreign nationals who stay on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, are listed the Russian Federation - 728, Ukraine - 444, Romania - 139, Turkey - 70, Azerbaijan - 37, also nationals of other states.
The majority of persons were detained at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border – 950, other 624 were detained at the border crossing point Chișinău - Airport and 170 foreign nationals – at exit of the country via border crossing points at the Moldovan-Romanian border.
A similar tendency is observed in 2014, from the beginning of the year, the Border Police officers registered 201 offences of the regime of stay in the Republic of Moldova. Russians hold precedence – 131, Ukrainians - 49, followed by Kazakh and Uzbek, 4 persons for each.
The Border Police comes with an appeal to people interested in traveling to Republic of Moldova and recommends to ensure themselves that they know certain rules and requirements for foreign citizens. A foreign citizen has the legal right of residence in the country for 90 days, within 6 months. During this period there can be made several trips, but the total days of stay should not exceed 90 days since the first entry in the Republic of Moldova. After passing of those 90 days, the foreign citizen is obliged to leave the Republic of Moldova, but may return again after the expiry of the term of six months since the date of first entry.
The infringement by foreign nationals and stateless persons of the rules of stay in the Republic of Moldova, manifested by the residence without identity documents, unauthentic documents or whose term has expired, by avoiding leaving the country after the expiry of the period of stay granted; by violating the rules of entry and exit from the Republic of Moldova, by avoiding medical examination for the detection of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV ); by declaring false information in order to obtain a visa, a residence permit or an identity card shall be sanctioned by a fine of 50 to 100 conventional units, with or without expulsion out of Moldova.
Thus, in order to ensure the compliance, by all those who cross the border, with the national legal provisions and countering illegal migration, the Border Police Department of the Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with other institutions with responsibilities in the respective field, undertake firm actions in all areas of competence.
