In the first month since the Republic of Moldova benefits from liberalized visa regime, 35.905 Moldovans holders of biometric passports, went to the European Union.

r4Most of the Moldovans chose to cross the border through the border crossing point Leuseni, the Border Policemen recorded 14 525 persons, being followed by Chisinau International Airport, via which left the country 4752 holders of biometric passports and the others 4713 went to the European Community via the border crossing point Sculeni.


In other border crossing points at Moldovan-Romanian border the following data were recorded regarding the border crossing by the Moldovan citizens, based on biometric passports:
Border crossing point Giurgiuleşti - 3898;
Border crossing point Cahul - 2598;
Border crossing point Costeşti - 3505;
Border crossing point Ungeni - 1063;
Border crossing point Lipcani - 851.
Of the total number (35 905) 12 752 Moldovans have left the country by crossing the Moldovan-Romanian border and via the International Airport Chisinau, presenting the new biometric passports for control, which did not contain any visas and did not have any other travel documents.
So far, according to the information held, at the level of the Border Police 9 Moldovan citizens, holders of biometric passports have been returned because they did not meet the conditions for entry into the European Union (3 of whom were banned from entering the European space).
We shall specify that during a period of one month the flow of crossings of the RM citizens who presented both biometric passports and non-biometric ones, at the exit of the country increased by about 20% compared with the same period of the last year. From April 28 to May 28 there were registered around 180 000 crossings of the RM citizens.
