The Border Police officers detained a foreign citizen who legitimized himself within the territory of the Republic of Moldova with a forged passport.
The man was detained due to the valorization of the operational information in Ungheni bus terminal. He presented himself to Ungheni Border Police Sector officers as a citizen of Uzbekistan, presenting for control a passport issued by the Uzbek authorities.
During the checks, the Border Police officers noticed that the passport had obvious signs of falsification, and further verifications using special equipment stated its forgery, by substituting the photo.
Currently, the investigations are pursued by the criminal investigation officers from the Western Regional Directorate to establish the true identity of the person detained and the circumstances in which he came to Moldova.
