In order to improve the quality of training with regard to assistance of the persons who need a kind of border protection, the representatives of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Bureau of Migration and Asylum of MIA organized a thematic seminar for the students of the National College of Border Police.
The initiative to carry out lessons came from our members of the College department "Specialized courses".
During three academic hours, the organizers discussed various issues concerning the international legal framework regarding the Asylum and Mandate of UNHCR, the asylum system in Moldova, identification of the persons who need international protection, as well as the role of the Border Police in border protection and the rights of those who cross the border. The choosing and the addressing of the present issues were made in the context of strengthening the knowledge acquired during the studies at the subject "National legislation on border".
The seminar was held on a positive note, the students of the National College of Border Police have shown their interest in the information presented, also actively participated in solving the cases of the areas discussed.
Undoubtedly, the meetings like this are necessary and useful for the students of the National College of Border Police because there are offered some opportunities for the development of the skills necessary for the future border policemen, that shall certainly result in encouraging results in carrying out of their service duties at border.
