A Syrian national was turned back at the border because he used a partially forged passport. On February 18, at the border crossing point Sculeni, presented himself a man in order to enter the country, who identified himself with the passport issued by the Syrian authorities.
The Border Police officers had suspicions about some elements from the document presented, as a result they carried out thorough verifications and found that the expiry date was falsified.
During the checking, the Syrian declared that he extended the validity date of the travel document in Greece, with the help of one of his acquaintances, whom he paid 100 euros for this service.
The Syrian citizen was handed over to the neighboring country in order to be carried out further verifications and the necessary legal measures.
