The Border Police officers together with Customs Service officers prevented the fraudulent introduction of a consignment that was hidden in specially designed places of the route bus.
Based on the information received from the special investigation officers of the Northern Regional Directorate, at the entry in the country through the border crossing point Criva, there was subjected to thorough checks a bus of model "Ikarus 250" that was circulating on a regular route Cernauti - Chisinau. The bus was drivven by an Ukrainian citizen aged 49.
At the Customs officers’ questions the driver answered that he had no consumer goods to be declared.
As a result of the examination of the transport means the common control team discovered four parcels in a specially designed place, where previously there was placed the second tank of the bus.
Thus, during the preliminary investigations it was determined that the driver intended to introduce fraudulently a consignemnt of clothes: wedding dresses, coats, suits and jackets, to be further illegally put up for sale on markets of the Republic.
The value of the unreported and hidden from control consignment is going to be determined by the competent specialists.
The entire quantity of goods was seized, the driver was subjected to a civil penalty under Article 287, paragraph 10 of the Contravention Code of RM, the transport means was seized until the fine payment.
