Border Policemen more experienced in detecting counterfeit cigarettes

t160 border police officers of Special Investigation, Criminal Investigation, Border Control and the Mobile Teams deepened their knowledge and skills in detecting counterfeit tobacco products. The training was organized with the support of the international company "Philip Morris".

During the training, the participants studied new methods of combating illicit trafficking of tobacco products, protection signs of tobacco products, cigarette packages, cigarettes and their packaging. Another topic, with a particular relevance to the work of border policeman in the area of reference, presented the evolution of counterfeit products, based on some elements of regional circumstances, including within the aspect of Moldova's accession to the European Economic Area.

The training took place in the context of implementing the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding between Border Police and JSC "Philip Morris International Management". The Border Police continues to fight against cigarette smuggling and other forms of illicit transportation across the state border of tobacco products, and in common with other national and international institutions, applies different methods to locate and follow counterfeit tobacco products in the national market and carries out rapidly data sharing, managing all possible risks.
