A new channel for illegal transportation of alcohol across the Moldovan- Ukrainian border was revealed by the Border Police officers in cooperation with Ukrainian border guards.
Thus, on 9 March, the employees of the Control Unit of the Northern Regional Directorate found on the river Dniester bank, in the direction of the localities Rudi – Subotovca, a plastic pipe with specific smell of alcohol.
At the moment of discovery, the pipe was reinforced with wire and had the length of 150 meters. The hose found on the territory of the Republic of Moldova has been captured, for further destruction of it.
Currently, the representatives of the border institutions of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine perform special investigations for revealing the persons involved.
During 2013, the employees of the Border Police identified 12 cases of alcohol smuggling, involving seven persons and raising over 87 thousand liters of alcohol. The cases were registered at the Moldovan -Ukrainian border.
