Border police officers detained two Moldovan citizens who intended to go illegally from the Republic of Moldova, on the "green" sector of the Moldovan-Romanian border. Those two persons were seen withthe help of night surveillance system when traveling on foot from the locality Viişoara to the border line.
On 10 March, at around 19.30, the patrol of the Border Police Sector Lopatnic, being on mission of state border surveillance with the truck with integrated thermal imagers, noticed a group of two persons coming towards the neighboring country . At about 600 meters from the border line, the sector inspectors intervened to detain the group.
From primary research it was established that two young persons were from the district Edinet, aged 19 and 23 years. Both of them planned to arrive in France in the hope that they will find a job, because they had an interdiction for entry into the European Union and tried to cross the border illegally from the Republic of Moldova to Romania, for then to continue their way up to destination.
Next, the Border Police employees take a number of investigative measures on the fact of attempted illegal offense of crossing the state border. In the event that will be proven the fault, the men risk a fine of up to 400 conventional units or unpaid community work 150 to 200 hours, according to Article 27 and Article 362 of the Criminal Code of Moldova.
